JOB SUMMARY:
The Controller executes, leads, plans, and manages internal and external financial accounting processes and works closely with the accounting department and the corporate controller to ensure general ledger, fixed assets, and tax reporting functions are all within compliance to federal and state requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking.
- Oversees the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual financial reports per closing schedule and has a thorough understanding of the factors impacting results.
- Maintains compliance with GAAP including appropriate revenue recognition on projects.
- Validates and/or prepares monthly account reconciliations to ensure an accurate balance sheet.
- Maintain fixed assets in Asset Keeper and update fixed asset roll forward monthly.
- Assists with development of the annual budget and incorporates budget into the ERP system to enable variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to payroll tax, sales and use tax, licensing and union payroll reporting.
- Enforce proper accounting policies and principles and develop/enhance internal controls to prevent fraud and protect the assets of the company.
- Practice strong cash management to improve the company’s net working capital and complete 6-week cash forecast on a weekly basis.
- Provide necessary documentation as the main contact for completion of annual audit and tax return.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years related experience required.
- 2+ years people management experience required.
- Public accounting experience desired.
